Special Exhibit: “The Subject/Object Closely Observed”

The theme of working with portraits and still life has been an interesting investigation. I did a series of self portraits, one with my cats, Proud Cat Lady and two encaustic collages that brought together my past and present.
I used the still-life as a springboard to abstracting the image. All three paintings started with a still life created in my art studio. I pushed the images to more about shapes and colors than a realistic representation.
