For a long time, I have been intrigued by merry-go-round. The merry-go-round at Central Park especially fascinates me with its dynamic expressive horses. All the horses appear to be screaming. The images of the students laying on the stairs is of Chinese students protesting their despair about their future.
Here is the beginning series exploring juxtaposing these images together. I started first in pastel, then exploring in watercolor and gouache. From there, I expand to larger pieces in oil.
